day 71, 72, 73.......... going five stars

thanks to the girls (joyce, wendy, anna, jena, bridget & dewi) we are going 5 stars for 3 nights @ Hotel Le Paix

rain shower heads, and fancy bath tub

oversize couches in the lobby

lunching the Moroccan way

tanning by the poolside

dinning on a swinging platform

the options are endless

day 68..... banteay kdei

enter the monestary of banteay kdei (12th century)

a temple never quite finished due to deficient construction. apparently the lowest bidder was low for a reason

it never the less makes for a nice stroll

day 68.... temple of banteay srei

temple of banteay srei (10th century)

although small in size, the decorative carvings on this temple make it a site unto itself

a place everyone can appreciate

and after 1000 years in the elements, most details remain crisp as the day they were made

day 67 cont.... ta prohm monastery

ta prohm monastery (12th century)

now bears more than a holy significance

this flora being more impressive than the structure it now consumes

we've also been told this location was used in the filming of tomb raider. note this shot was taken (the split second) between retards doing their best lara croft impression.

did i mention the trees are impressive?

day 67..... angkor thom

getting gassed up for the sites

first stop bayon (late 12th century)

where king jayavarman watches your every move

and we stopped to appreciate his

onwards we pass the terrace of the leper king (12th century)

where michelle took relief with the elephants

last but not least we climbed phimeanakas (10th century)

a modest size temple and break from other tourists

day 66......... from koh ker to beng mealea

raiding the ancient city of koh ker (10th century)

a place where strangler figs now rule the day. removal of these 500 year old trees is next to impossible the temple of beng mealea (12th century), also locked nature's grip, is especially beautiful

so long as you must mind the locals
